From Ospizio Sottile (2480 m) you go down towards Peccia for about a hundred metres, then take the left and start climbing, passing two exposed stretches, and through stony pastures you reach Colle di Valdobbiola. From here you descend into the Aosta Valley as far as Passo dell’Alpetto; this stretch requires a lot of attention because of the landsliding and slippery ground. You then return to the Valsesian side, cross a 15-metre-long plate and with a long traverse you reach Lago Nero del Rissuolo. From this point you can go down to Lago Bianco and then to rifugio Carestia (2201 m) that is open in summer, where you can stay overnight or go down to the Peccia. Very experienced hikers can instead go up to Passo dell’Artemisia (there is a chain) and then along gullies to the Bocchetta del Forno. It is possible to climb up from it to the summit of Corno Bianco, at an altitude of 3320 m, and then descend to Passo dell’Artemisia and Lago Nero, or continue along the ridge to the Bocchetta di Puio, descend to the Puio snowfield, cross it to Passo della Pioda, descend to the Tailly lakes, then climb up again among the screes to the Tailly pass and then to the Ravelli bivouac (2504 m) where you can spend the night.

The section of Passo dell'Artemisia to the Tailly Pass is to be considered a mountaineering route.
