Follow the path from Rifugio Vallanta that gradually descends to Pian Para (2350 m). Continue on the orographic right of the stream, which you cross near the Gias d'Ajaut (fountain of health at 2036 m). Remain on the orographic left of the stream for a short stretch and cross it again after the Grangia del Rio. Shortly afterwards you come to the junction (about 1900 m) for Passo di San Chiaffredo, which you leave on the left, continuing to descend along the main route along the Vallanta stream keeping to the hydrographic right. A last stretch that descends rather steeply leads to a hydraulic system and, shortly afterwards, to the car park along the provincial road, just a few hundred metres from the hamlet of Castello di Pontechianale.  From here you cross the dam and take the road that runs along the right bank as far as the village of Maddalena, the main hamlet of Pontechianale.
