From the Stopover point, circumvent Lake Malciaussia on the left hydrographic side until you cross the tributary of the same lake on a bridge of pipes and cement. After the ford, go past the fork to the right of trail 116 that leads to the Tazzetti Refuge and to Rocciamelone and take the GTA marked mule track and Sentiero Italia. In a short time, you reach a hill with a magnificent view of the lake below. The mule track bends to the left and reaches the junction for Lake Nero at approx. 1970 m. Continue right, along the mule track which is paved in some sections and which, after having made a wide bend and gone beyond a few rocks, starts to go along the rocky walls descending from the Palon and Palonetto mountains. After crossing the Rio Croce di Ferro at 2270 m, go past several hairpin bends to reach Colle della Croce di Ferro (2558 m), a large grassy and scenic saddle. Descend to the Valle di Susa side, encountering a former barracks a little below the hill, the Capanna Sociale Aurelio Ravetto (private refuge, with a winter room open all year round). Having passed Cresta Creuse, passing from Alpe Arcella (2000 m), Alpe Cresta Rossa and Malga Vottero, the vast track between pastures and sparse larch woods, reaches the numerous mountain huts of the Grange, the highest of which are those facing the panoramic hill of the Truc (1705 m), home to the stopover point.
