From the charming village of Chialvetta, go back along "la Scurcio", avoid the fork towards Colle del Ciarbonet and, keeping to the left, you reach the votive shrine dedicated to mountaineers in the wide plateau of Prato Ciorliero (1959 m). The path climbs towards Passo della Gardetta (2440 m) among high altitude pastures and military works belonging to the Alpine Wall dug into gypsum outcrops, with the characteristic sinkholes and ponors produced by karst. When you reach the pass, the panorama is superb: the view stretches over the entire Gardetta plateau (Italian geological heritage since 2001), over the military roads that run through it and the dolomitic Rocca la Meja (2840 m), while the summit of Monte Oronaye (3100 m) dominates behind. A last downhill stretch reaches the homonymous CAI Refuge.
