In the second stage from Bannio Anzino you go back down to Pontegrande along the Via delle Cappelle (path B15b) and the Madonna della Neve. From Pontegrande carry on by following the B0 sign, passing through the Case Pucci locality and reaching San Carlo in thirty minutes. After passing this locality you will pass through Battiggio and you will reach Vanzone after another thirty minutes. You will then pass Valleggio, Croppo, Canfinello, Borgone and Ceppo Morelli. Here you skirt the lower part of the village up to the spectacular stone bridge over the Anza and climb up to Prequartera. Then take the carriage road to Campigli, where you take the path that leads to Morghen in 35 minutes and continuing on a wide mule track you cross the Anza over the Ponte del Vaud; you continue to the ruins of the old mine of Pestarena and then to the village of Pestarena. From here you go up to Fornarelli and Borca (where you can visit the Guia Gold Mine and the Walser Museum), you reach Isella and then Macugnaga-Staffa, municipal seat with the ancient Walser village and the Old Church.

Access
By car: A8 motorway from Milan or A4 motorway from Torino and continuation on A26 motorway for Gravellona Toce. Continue on SS33 del Sempione to the Piedimulera exit. From Piedimulera the SS 549 of Valle Anzasca goes up as far as Macugnaga.
