Variant of the GTL, this section allows to reach Monesiglio, and, from there, with the subsequent route, to move to the other ridge in Mombarcaro.

In Prunetto, our route starts from the entrance arch of the castle, known as “la battagliera”, and descends to the left, on the steep Via Castello, to cross the oldest village of the municipality. Shortly, you return to the provincial road, turn right and continue as far as the parish church. From here, take the road that climbs to the crossroads in front of the church and, following the signs for Pian Ronchetto, Bosco, Piani, turn left at the first junction, immediately after the car park of a trattoria. Climb gently between the farmhouses and go left with a wide arch and, through several forest sections, reach the junction of the hamlet of Piani. Climb to the right and shortly after you reach the last farm. Enter the yard, turn right and climb towards the top of the hill, where there is a solitary ciabot (small hut), in a position that allows to admire both the castle of Prunetto and the Uzzone Valley.

The itinerary enters a Beech Forest, close to a small rest area: here we recommend a short detour, at the first junction on the left, to admire a large group of beech trees that create a particularly picturesque environment. This is perhaps the last area of the Upper Langa in which we can admire these magnificent trees: once they were much more common, today they are relegated in a few isolated specimens to the wettest valleys.

Back on the flat dirt track continue left, going on to the ridge as far as the crossroads on Bricco della Colma. From the top of the Bricco abandon the paved road to take to the left, right in front of the flat road that goes along the GTL, the grassy dirt track which runs along the side of a vast meadow. After an open and very scenic section at the top of the hill, the road enters the forest, descending gently and keeping on the ridge of the hill. After crossing several croplands, you meet a flat paved road: cross it, continuing to descend on the dirt track of the ridge, with uneven ground in certain sections.

You continue to descend on a few bends and, after skirting a meadow, you meet a paved road again. The route, in this very scenic section, descends on this road, beside several farmhouses, until it reaches a deep valley between two hills. Go beyond it, proceeding always on paved ground, to the left. With a few slight ups and downs, you reach a junction: descend to the right and, with a steeper section and a few bends, enter the historic centre of Monesiglio.
