From Rifugio Obre Huusch (1169 m.) you go down to Roncaccio Inferiore and then continue on the carriage road to the hamlets in which Rimella is divided: Chiesa, Sella and San Gottardo. Near S.Gottardo, take the path that branches off to the left and going uphill you will shortly arrive in a locality called "Posa dei Morti" (1395 m) and then reach Alpe Selletta (1447 m). The path passes above Van (1470 m.) and Versch (1525 m.) reaching Alpe Pianello (1796 m.). On the alp, there is the Refugio Città di Borgomanero of the CAI.
It is then possible to continue along the GTA track that leads to Bocchetta di Campello (1924 m) and pass in the nearby Val Strona.
