From the centre of Caraglio take the asphalt road (info panel) near the Filatoio Rosso (silk factory) that goes slightly uphill towards the locality of Tetto Lerda. The road shortly becomes a dirt road and always following the directions present on site, you cross several groups of isolated houses and go around the Bric delle Forche, going up towards the centre of Montemale in Cuneo. Once you reach the centre of Montemale, continue on the asphalt road for a short stretch and leave it at a bend (info panel). Now on a dirt road you encircle the slopes of the modest elevation called Cima Varengo. Going slightly uphill and always on a dirt road, you reach several localities and finally you come back onto the asphalt road to shortly reach the village of Biotto where Rifugio La Scola is located.
