You leave the Sanctuary continuing on the asphalt road that goes up to the statue of the apparition and then on a dirt road (GTA) towards the lake of Colle di Sant'Anna. Just beyond the lake you have to keep left at the fork and leave the dirt road that leads to Colle di Sant'Anna. Proceed in a south-easterly direction and climb the old, well-marked military road that leads to Cima Moravacciera (2407m). Now follow the French-Italian border on the path in a south-east direction; the route is very scenic, and you can also see Isola 2000 ski resort on French territory. You then reach the asphalt road near Colle della Lombarda (2351 m). Follow the provincial road slightly downhill on the Italian side, until you meet a clearly visible path (P14) on the right that branches off in an easterly direction and with numerous hairpin bends you climb towards Passo d’Orgials (2600 m). From here, a small detour to the nearby Cima d'Orgials (2647 m) is highly recommended; retracing your steps you descend towards Laghi della Valletta (2291 m) that are already visible from the pass, and you will soon reach a flat stretch. Then you turn left just below the lakes in a northerly direction and climb up a path that runs along the left side of the valley. You will reach a larch wood and, on a clearly visible path with several hairpin bends, you will then reach Rifugio Malinvern Città di Ceva (1840 m).
