From the Vernagli you continue up the right side of the Corsaglia Valley with a balcony path that offers continuous panoramic views of the opposite side of Valle Corsaglia and connections to a series of interesting mountain hamlets (La Prà is worth a visit). The route across the hillside reaches the locality of Costacalda and then that of Mondini and finally Bossea at the bottom of the valley, where the Grotte di Bossea caves are worth a visit. Leaving the Grotte di Bossea you reach the hamlet of Fontane in the municipality of Frabosa Soprana, after a short climb on a path. Fontane is a significant place because of the presence of a vehicle certification point and a public transport stop, as well as the Hiking Refuge.

It is possible to connect to Val Casotto from Vernagli via the connecting C2 path, detailed below. The Vernagli - Fontane stage coincides with an already registered route up to Costacalda, while the descent to Bossea follows an ancient local road, now a vehicular road but with very low traffic, which goes up from Bossea and, after crossing a chestnut grove that is still cultivated, ends at Costacalda. In Bossea, the itinerary continues with a stretch on the C3 path to Stalla Rossa where it connects with the route that continues to the Cavarero bivouac, where there is the connection to the routes of the Upper Valle Tanaro.
