Highlights and tour details

The itinerary starts at the entrance of the Castellar cycle path on the SP 260, a few hundred metres after the junction from Via Pagno di Saluzzo.

The route constantly follows the course of the Bronda stream (after about 1.5 km on the right there is a farm lane that reaches the characteristic and suggestive Chapel of San Ponzio, an interesting addition to the stage). After 3 km of road, you reach the equipped camper and games area of the village of Castellar. Continue on the dirt path that leads to the Castle along a couple of hairpin bends, a place of rare historical/landscape beauty; once you reach it, continue again along the asphalt road that climbs decisively and constantly with some steep climbs between rural housing clusters that are still inhabited, until you reach the intervalley ridge with the Valle Po.  Here the road flattens out and, with a quiet and undulating route through chestnut woods, you reach the fork just below the chapel of S. Grato (617 m), a panoramic point towards the Valle Po. From here you go down on the left along via San Grato until you reach a fork where you continue on the left, on the path called Rabiniello, which arrives in Via Barba; once here, the itinerary joins the provincial road of Valle Bronda SP47, and you reach the centre of the village of Pagno near the big central square.
