Highlights and tour details
After crossing the hamlet of San Lorenzo along the "main road" in the direction of the mountainside, you come to the mule track that goes up to Alpe Praghetta. The path runs along a steep slope with southern exposure, skirting a beech wood. At 1800 m you come out onto alpine meadows. At the Alp you cross and take the Alta Via Canavesana that arrives at Rifugio Pontese on path 560, passing by Lago di Valsoera. Continuing to the right, follow the track that leads to Passo della Colla, just beyond which you will come to the Park rangers’ hut. From here you descend among rhododendrons to the IREN track, after which you continue on the flat to the dam of Lago Eugio. After descending to the foot of the dam wall, you climb up the opposite side until you reach the ridge of Monte Arzola, from which there is an extensive view from Gran Paradiso to Monviso. From here onwards the path is not very clearly marked and passes through pastureland towards Redentore, near the Blessent bivouac. Before reaching Redentore, there is a signpost indicating a diversion to the left, which leads back down to Alpe Arzola with its pastures. Around an altitude of 1600 m, the trail enters a birch forest and then winds through rocks rising up in the shape of towers. There are rock incisions in this stretch of the path - traces of very ancient anthropisation that can also be found in Valle di Ribordone and other Canavese valleys. Two groups of incisions can be seen in the shape of concentric circles (referable to solar or female symbolism), considered to be unique. Once in Posio, paying attention to the signs, you can descend to Talosio following the old mule track that descends, cutting across the asphalt road, where the GTA stage stop-off is located.
Attractions
There are rock carvings, traces of age-old anthropization that has interested the Valley of Ribordone, on a par with the other Canavese valleys. Two groups of carvings are visible, in the shape of concentric rings (traceable to solar symbolism or to female symbolism), considered to be of a unique type.
Access
Talosio. In the stretch along the valley floor from Noasca to Fei, the provincial road network on the opposite bank, where the buses pass can be easily reached from the path.
