Highlights and tour details

Stage that gives great satisfaction, even if it is quite physically demanding. The climb starts from the municipality of Balme, the highest point of Val d’Ala, cradle of Piedmontese mountaineering and still a destination of expert mountaineers and hikers who are passionate about the most unspoilt mountains. It heads towards the Gandolfo Bivouac and continues on Passo Paschiet and Colle Costa Fiorita at 2465 m. From here, the long descent starts towards Pian Venaus, at 1930 m, to finish the stage in the town of Usseglio. Each summer, the town hosts the regional exhibition of Toma cheese from Lanzo and Alpine cheeses.
