You depart from Oropa from the Delubro (a small temple) located on the side of the hairpin bend of the Galleria di Rosazza road, beyond the Trattoria Nocca, taking a beautiful late 19^th century paved mule track (signpost D13) that leads halfway up the hill to Alpe Pissa. From here the route climbs up the slope becoming a paved path that reaches the Rosazza refuge and the locality of Oropa Sport. Then you follow the direction to go to the Lago del Mucrone lake and, once at the Fontana del Bersagliere fountain, take the path on the right (signpost D24); at the intersection with the path that leads to the "Ciao Miki" ferrata, continue on the D24 up to the Bocchetta del Lago from where you can enjoy a splendid view. From here you follow a downhill stretch along trail C11, going into Valle Elvo with numerous ascents and descents, stony slopes and some challenging passages equipped with ropes and ladders. The last stretch is particularly steep, so much so that it is nicknamed "man killer", but once you finally reach the refuge (2280 m) you can enjoy the splendid view of Monte Rosa, Monte Bianco, and towards the Aosta valley.
