Highlights and tour details

Leaving Pian Bernardo you go up a beautiful cobbled path through steep hairpin bends among the beech woods to reach Prati sopra le Balze, a grassy high plateau on the crest of the Rocca delle Orse. From here you cross the ridge and descend on the south side to reach the ancient mountain villages of Case Lurdea and Stalle Calvetto to go onto the Balconata di Ormea in the hamlet of Carià. Then follow the track of the Balconata to the hamlet of Villaro and then descend again to Ormea through the old Castle of Ormea.
