Highlights and tour details

From Sauze di Cesana you go up to the church of San Restituto and Champlas du Col where, after crossing the provincial road of Sestriere, you take the path that goes up towards Granges des Alpes (Elp). From here follow the Louis XIV path, then take the service road to the ski slopes that climbs to the right towards Monte Rotta. Pass Roccia Rotonda and the homonymous ski lift to reach the Roccia Rotonda bar on the ridge, before descending towards the head of the Rio Nero valley and Col Basset. The descent continues towards the Broussailles Chapel, then you cross the Sauze d'Oulx slope passing Challet Mollino (Rifugio Lago Nero) to reach Pian della Rocca. The locality of Sportinia, a good resting point where there are public premises, can be reached by descending about 200 m of altitude from Challet Mollino.
