Highlights and tour details

From Rifugio Vaccarone you go down to the Gias barracks (2626 m), continue downhill towards the Tiraculo valley, cross the path that goes up from Grange Valentino (G.R.V), pass the Grange Thullie (in ruins) and with a slight climb you reach the Quattro Denti (2108 m). Continuing downhill again, you reach the granges where there is the Trou de Thuille or Pertus di Colombano Romean (1980 m), a more than 400 metre long tunnel that was dug out by hand in the rock between 1526 and 1533 to bring water from the valley of Tiraculo to the villages of Ramats and Cels. Continuing on seemingly flat terrain you reach the Clot Brun alpine pasture (1912 m), you arrive at the village of Grange della Valle (1744 m) and then eventually go up to Rifugio Levi Molinari. For the connection with the Sentiero Balcone (balcony path), follow path 814 (already covered at the beginning of stage 1) to reach the village of San Colombano, stop-off stage of the Sentiero Balcone.
