From Col Clapier follow the trail towards the Vaccarone Refuge until you pass the former military barracks; where the trail starts to descend into the deep valley which separates the moraine above Lake Savine from the side which is home to the Vaccarone Refuge take a trail which is little marked and climbs the moraine in a westerly direction. After approximately 400 metres, you reach the Clapier bivouac.
