From the village of Plampinet, the stage travels a stretch in France climbing towards Saint Roch (trail G.R. 5) and touching Chalet des Acles. Going along the Des Acles stream you reach the junction with the variant 4A (altitude 2290) for Passo dell'Orso. Keeping the orographic left, you reach Passo di Desertes (altitude 2553), on the Italian-French border where the Ricovero Passo di Desertes is close by. Continue along trail 601B, and towards Pourachet you will touch Punta Madonna del Cotolivier before starting the long descent towards the built-up area of Oulx. You will pass the hamlets of Vazon and Pierremenaud, coinciding with the route of stage 1 of the itinerary.
