From Valfenera we can take this variant that leads directly to Villanova d'Asti without having to take the longer route, followed by stage 2. From the centre we continue northwards, skirting the industrial area until we reach a road at the bottom of the valley that crosses a very wide and seemingly never-ending farming area, from which the chain of the Alps can be admired on clear days.
