Highlights and tour details

From the Alpe Scaredi bivouac (1841 m), descend along the VBAP00A path in the direction of Alpe In La Piana, firstly through alpine pastures, then through beech woods, touching the mountain pastures of La Balma (1544 m), Boschelli (1420 m) and Portaiola (1288 m). A series of long hairpin bends in the woods then lead to Rio Fiorina (920 m), which you cross on a footbridge and after a few minutes along a short stretch in the woods you are at Alpe In La Piana (936 m). The place is an important crossroads of the routes that connect the northern area of the protected area. The mountain pasture is home to three Park bivouacs and a State Forestry Corps barracks. The bivouacs, unattended and always open, provide space for a total of 25 beds on planking in their attics and are heated with a stove; the mountain pasture has a fountain in the appurtenant area. For information please refer to the Park Authority at n. 0324/87540. The stage continues towards Val Gabbio-La Colma di Premosello. From Alpe In La Piana, follow the VBAP00A path which enters the beech wood in a south-westerly direction and, bypassing the slopes of Monte Mottac, enters and climbs Val Gabbio up to the bridge over the stream (949 m). Still along the VBAP00A path, by crossing the stream you go up the right orographic slope with a steep zig zag to Colletta (1270 m), then continue in Val Serena, with a comfortable cross to the Rio Val Serena. After having crossed the stream, the route climbs up to Alpe Serena and then continues uphill, on an almost always visible track, to Alpe La Colma (1728 m), the site of the homonymous Park bivouac, which concludes the stage of the itinerary. The bivouac, unattended and always open, provides space for about 10 beds on planking in the attic, is heated with a stove and has a fountain in the appurtenant area. For information please refer to the Park Authority at n. 0324/87540.
