From Stockalper Castle to Briga, you climb to the upper part of the town among beautiful houses which are still in wood and come out on the pastures of Ried that offers a wonderful view of Briga. Here you enter the Saltina gorge with a trail that is always wide and well-kept and runs overhanging until you come to the canton road in Schallberg. Here you descend steeply towards Grund and climb the narrow valley crossing the river several times on numerous wooden bridges. With a last decisive uphill section, you reach the Simplon Pass.

Access
Briga can be reached from Switzerland on national road 9 of the Rhone Valley or from national road 19 of the Goms Valley. From Italy, the A26 Motorway in the direction of Gravellona Toce, from here SS33 del Sempione as far as the border and national road of the Simplon Pass to Briga
