Leaving behind the magnificent Sanctuary of Oropa, we keep to the left of the square to take the track of the ancient Biella-Oropa tramway, which we travel for a short stretch as far as the state road. After 1 km, at the Chapel of San Fermo we take the evident roadway on the right. We climb into the forest, go along the remains of the old hydrotherapy facility to descend into the valley of the Oremo torrent, walking between dense forests and pastures. Arrived close to Chiavolin we go past the torrent to climb on the opposite side, between pastures and farmhouses, first on forest road and then on a trail. Having begun the descent, we exit the forest to take a lovely scenic cart track, which leads to a paved road that goes along the charming Church of San Grato, from where we can enjoy a lovely view of the lowland. Past the church, a mule track descends to the town of Sordevolo. Across the town and past the Elvo torrent over the ancient Ponte Ambrosetti, we climb on the opposite side, among forest, farmhouses and pastures. Turn left at a mountain hut and go along a slope section, where the forests open up giving us enchanting panoramas of the Biella hills and the Sanctuary of Graglia, where the stage ends.
