Highlights and tour details
From Gias Nuovo you walk to the bottom of the long plateau, descend through low vegetation and reach Alpe di Sea (1785 m). Cross the river over a bridge and head right (trail no. 309). Follow a route that climbs through low vegetation. Continue climbing half way up the slope, eastwards, and leave to the left the track that climbs towards Passo dell’Ometto. From here starts a difficult and exposed section where it is necessary to pay special attention to the possible detachment of rocks from the wall above. In case of bad weather conditions, it is strongly discouraged to travel this route subject to discharges of water and stone. Continue right (route 310) on morainic terrain, pointing to the base of the northern side of Punta Rossa. At the foot of the wall, the trail heads right and leads to a ledge of about 2 metres wide close to a low overhanging jump. Follow a track that cuts up the wall, you go over a first ridge and descend to cross a canal. Beyond a second ridge, the trail goes through a gorge canal and climbs a steep ramp with narrow hairpin bends after which, beyond another two little pronounced ridges, you arrive on a ridge from where the Ghicet di Sea is clearly visible. A very slight descent, then it starts to climb again up a wide but shallow gorge, cluttered with stones. Having reached the valley culminating with the pass, you climb it again on a narrow and barely visible track to the incision at 2750 m between Punta Rossa (2910 m) to the south and Albaron di Sea (3261 m) to the north/west. Descend south/west (trail 226). Follow a track that keeps to the right of a channel of stones where the Rio della Ciamarella flows. At the end of the canal, lean to the left gaining the picturesque Piano della Ciamarella. You go past the homonymous mountain pasture, take the trail to the right, orographic left, which descends along a valley until you reach a mountain hut, after which, you arrive at the City of Ciriè Refuge (1860 m).
